Catamount Classic - Lacrosse For A Cure: In 2007 a student and member of the men’s lacrosse team at the University of Vermont was diagnosed with testicular cancer. With a treatment plan from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and incredible strength and determination the player is in full remission. Ryan and Kelly Curtis, along with the The University of Vermont Men’s Lacrosse Program, started the Catamount Classic – Lacrosse For A Cure in 2008. It was an opportunity to raise awareness for testicular cancer and provide New England college lacrosse teams a local option for great competition. Over the last three years we have donated nearly $100,000 to testicular cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This year we are excited to announce that we are adding a women's tournament on to the event. Ten women's teams will compete throughout the morning on Thayer Academy's turf fields to help us fight the battle agains women's cancers. Our goal this year is to get cancer screening information out to as many students athletes as possible. In the past three years we have handed out thousands of screening informational packages to young athletes all over New England.
